A prickly conundrum
My garden is surrounded by different trees and bushes, but one tree I don’t have is a chestnut tree and yet my lawn is strewed with the empty prickly balls that had contained chestnuts. For a while I was very confused as to where they had come from but then one morning the squirrel who visits my garden everyday arrived with one in its mouth and then proceeded to spend the next 15-20 minutes very carefully biting off the prickly husk to find the chestnut inside and then spent another ten minutes enjoying a lovely feast. It was obviously worth struggling through all the prickles to get the husk off and reach the delicious reward inside.
It made me think that when we are going through difficult, painful times it’s worth persevering because at the end our reward will be a wonderful life in eternity with Jesus.
